This printable Great Wave art project template includes two reference pages to help students build their composition step by step.

Page 1 is designed for students to look at as they begin their drawing. It shows the basic lines of the composition, helping students place the large wave shapes and other major elements before adding details.

Page 2 is a more detailed reference for students to use as they continue working. They can look at this page as they fill in the smaller details and complete their drawing.

These printouts are meant to be kept at students’ desks as visual references while they draw their own Great Wave composition. Students are not meant to draw or paint directly on the templates. Instead, they look at the pages while creating their own drawing for their Great Wave painting.

I do this project with all of my 1st through 5th grade students. This project is also perfect for middle school, high school, and adults.
