Rainbow Parrot began as a small after-school art workshop in the fall of 2014 and was an instant hit. Even more awesome than the amazing art projects we tackled in each class was the joyful and supportive community of multi-age kids that emerged as a result. This community continues to grow and inspire us.

At Rainbow Parrot, we enjoy a community-oriented, experience-based approach to art. Through a process of playful exploration, students make new discoveries, increase their confidence, and tap into heightened levels of self-awareness. The result is a greater sense of joy, well-being, and enhanced ability to connect with others.

We tackle a diverse and ever-changing array of projects during each workshop and camp. Example projects include melted crayon art, treasure map design, balloon animals, cubist painting, origami, animé illustration, sumi-e painting, homemade stickers, fruit and vegetable print-making, polymer clay sculpture, miniature garden landscapes, tinfoil and pipe-cleaner engineering, inventors lab, blown ink paintings, ceramic tiles, tiny Altoid tin scenes, cereal box collages, pet rocks, and nature mobiles.

My son loves the after school art program. He is excited to continue as a summer camp. He brings home unique and creative art projects and is always begging me to sign him up for the following session. Our favorite project was the “old shoe” project. You would have never known that it was one beat up shoe ready for the garage. Brings out my son’s creativity in a fun atmosphere.
